Hospital lighting

Hospitals and healthcare facilities are the number one beneficiaries of proper lighting. And easy it is not: a hospital has dozens of types of spaces. From treatment rooms to waiting areas and from receptions to laboratories. Each room needs its own lighting plan tuned to the activities in that space. All in the interest of the patient, caregiver or visitor.

Benefits of LED lighting in healthcare

LED lighting in hospitals and healthcare facilities brings several benefits. Besides having a longer lifespan than normal lighting, LED lighting is also a lot more energy efficient. In hospitals, halls are long and certain areas, such as a waiting room or cafeteria, may be very large or have high ceilings. As a result, you need a lot of lighting to properly provide the entire room with the right light. It is always nice to be able to save on energy bills then.

In addition, LED lighting provides low CO2 emissions and reduces headaches and improves performance. Hospital staff regularly work many hours in a row, and the pressure is therefore very high at peak times or in crisis situations. Staff performance can improve significantly by installing the right LED lighting. Also, with Ocab LED lighting you have no flickering, minimal maintenance costs and LED lighting contains no harmful substances.

Hospital lighting for all conditions

There are more types of spaces in a hospital than in any other building. Consider treatment rooms, consulting rooms, waiting rooms, offices, reception halls, receptions, restaurant, parking lots, parking garages, operating rooms, elevators, stairwells, laboratories, emergency lighting and more.

For each room, it is important to look at its function and activities and create a separate lighting plan. Nurses need different types of lighting for each department to carry out work carefully than patients, who actually benefit from lighting that makes them feel a little more at ease.

At Ocab, we specialize in hospital lighting and know exactly where to start, what to consider and what the current laws are regarding lighting in hospitals. For example, we installed various lighting solutions for the Sint Lucas Andreas Hospital. Let us advise you for professional lighting.

Tips from Ocab for hospital lighting

There is an awful lot to consider when installing lighting in hospitals. We like to give a few tips in advance….

  1. Read up on current hospital legislation. That way you won’t miss the mark when choosing lighting.
  2. Go for sustainable lighting by installing LED lighting and save on energy bills.
  3. Daylight is essential for a human being. In places where daylight does not come in optimally through the existing windows, it is good to see how you can mimic daylight. This has a positive effect on patients’ mood and recovery and can be done well with LED lighting.
  4. Choose the right heat temperature. It is expressed in Kelvin. The lower the Kelvin value, the warmer the color.
  5. How real a color appears is measured by its CRI value. Make sure you have the right CRI value for each room. This can be tricky. Let us advise you!
